The Appies

This app brings graph colouring problems to life with fun animated characters called "Appies".

Every level is a graph with vertices and edges. It is your job to label (or "colour") each vertice by dragging an "Appie" onto it (Appies are what the cute creatures in this app are called). Not all colourings are allowed, however. To complete a level you must colour the vertices in such a way that no two characters of the same colour are linked together.

The mathematical problems you are solving in this app are effectively graph colouring problems. These colouring problems are brought to life with the help of five wonderful Appies named "Charles", "Clement", "Giles", "Greg" and "Benedict". Each Appie has a distinct colour and shape and shows a wide range of emotions (they also have weird and wonderful lifes outside of the game but let's not digress!). While the Appies are normally quite happy (or should we say 'appie!) they do get very nervous when you move Appies around to try and solve a level. They literally watch your every move! Should you ever make a mistake by putting two Appies of of the same colour next to one another then they will be sure to let you know!

By adding animated characters to these otherwise abstract math problems we hope to reach out to children and adults that would otherwise perhaps not be interested in putting their minds to this kind of logic puzzle. Make no mistake, though, despite all the cuteness this app is not just for children — most adults will find the more advanced levels rather challenging! Only the most brilliant and determined of people will be able to complete all levels!

In total this app features 120 puzzles. You will find some of the puzzles quite easy yet others utterly frustratingly difficult!
